Buzzo Support
Help with Buzzo, the food, weight and training tracker for iPhone. If your question isn't answered here, contact support.
Getting started
- Open Buzzo and answer the setup questions: your age (Buzzo is for ages 13 and over; ages 13 to 17 use teen mode), then, for adults, your weight goal, your body details and, if you like, your daily calorie and nutrient targets. You can change your targets at any time in Settings, then Daily targets.
- Start the 3-day free trial if the App Store offers it to you, or choose a plan.
- Log a meal on Today or Food by typing or searching for what you ate, or tap Scan food to start from a photo.
Buzzo doesn't need an account. What you log is stored on your iPhone.
Subscription and free trial
- Buzzo is a subscription app with no free version. An active free trial or subscription (monthly, 3-month or yearly) unlocks everything in the app; the price is shown before you confirm.
- New subscribers whose Apple Account is eligible get a 3-day free trial. The subscription screen then says Try Buzzo free, and the button reads Start 3-day free trial. Apple decides who is eligible, and an Apple Account can use the trial only once. If you don't see the trial, your account isn't eligible, and you're charged when you confirm.
- When the trial ends, your subscription starts and you're charged for the plan you chose, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Buzzo's Settings, under Subscription, shows when your trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
- If your free trial or subscription ends, Buzzo shows the subscription screen. Everything you logged stays on your iPhone and is all there again when you subscribe. Settings, including backup export and Delete all data, stays available.
Restore Purchases
If you already subscribe but Buzzo shows the subscription screen (for example, after reinstalling or on a new iPhone):
- Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you subscribed with.
- Tap Restore purchases on the subscription screen, or in Settings, under Subscription.
- If a family organizer has to approve a purchase (Ask to Buy), Buzzo unlocks once it's approved.
Manage or cancel your subscription
- In Buzzo: open Settings, tap Buzzo subscription, then Manage subscription.
- On your iPhone: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Buzzo.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the current free trial or paid period, and if you cancel during the free trial you aren't charged. Apple handles refunds; you can ask for one through Apple's Report a Problem page.
Teen mode (ages 13 to 17)
In teen mode you can log food by typing, searching or adding a food, and everything stays on your iPhone. Calorie targets, weight goals, weigh-ins, progress photos, the coach, training, Apple Health and photo recognition are for adults. A parent or guardian answers a short check before any purchase. If you’re worried about eating, food or your body, talk to a parent, a doctor or someone you trust.
Photo recognition (adults)
- On Today or Food, tap Scan food.
- Tap Take a photo or Choose a photo.
- The first time, Buzzo explains how photo recognition works. Tap Continue to go ahead, or Cancel to log by typing instead.
- Tap Review estimated meal.
What happens to the photo:
- It is sent to Buzzo's photo service, which asks Anthropic to identify the foods and estimate the amounts.
- Calories and nutrients are then calculated on your iPhone from Buzzo's food data.
- Neither the photo nor the result is stored.
Tips for better results:
- Use good light and keep the whole plate in the frame.
- Photograph one meal at a time.
- The estimate can still be wrong, so always check it.
Scan limits:
- There's a daily limit on photo scans. When you reach it, Buzzo tells you, and you can type the meal instead.
- A scan that fails doesn't count against your limit.
Review and confirm a meal
Nothing is logged until you confirm it.
- Each food shows its name and an estimated amount. You can change the amount, or tap Change food to pick a different one.
- Which one? means Buzzo needs you to choose the closest match from its food list. Tap Use this food to accept a match.
- Confirm meal saves the meal once, with the nutrition for each food.
- Cancelling the review logs nothing.
Apple Health
-
Turn it on: open Settings in Buzzo, then Apple Health.
- Read: choose any of weight, steps and workouts.
- Write: turn on weight sharing if you want weigh-ins saved to Apple Health.
- iOS asks for permission only when you connect.
- Change access later: open the Settings app, then Privacy & Security, then Health, then Buzzo.
- If Health data doesn't appear: check that the category is switched on in Buzzo and allowed in iOS Settings.
Weight and progress
- Add a weigh-in: tap Add weigh-in on Today or Progress.
- Weigh-ins from Apple Health are labelled "From Apple Health".
- Progress shows your weight trend, food history, achievements, progress photos (Add a progress photo) and training.
- Units and goal: change them in Settings.
Delete your data
- If you want a copy first, open Settings, then Your data, then Export a backup. The backup file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.
- Tap Delete all data. This removes your profile, food log, weigh-ins, progress photos, training data, Coach conversations, reminders, Buzzo's Apple Health settings and photo-recognition consent from Buzzo on this iPhone. Buzzo has no accounts, so there is no account to delete.
These remain:
- a record of the youngest age entered on this iPhone, so that teen mode stays on and setup stays closed after an age under 13. It never leaves your iPhone. Deleting the app removes it;
- a small file with your subscription status and the allowances you've used;
- the random install identifier used for photo-scan limits, which is kept in your iPhone's Keychain;
- weigh-ins already saved to Apple Health (delete them in the Health app);
- the Apple Health access you granted in iOS (change it in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Health);
- backups you made;
- your subscription. It belongs to your Apple Account, so cancel it with Apple if you no longer want it.
To bring data back, use Restore from a backup in Settings.
Troubleshooting
- "Subscriptions can't be loaded right now": check your internet connection and tap Try again.
- You paid, but Buzzo is still locked: tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're using the same Apple Account, and wait for any Ask to Buy approval.
- "The photo service isn't available right now": try again later or type the meal. The failed scan doesn't count against your limit.
- "You're offline": photo scans need an internet connection. Typing and searching foods work offline.
- Reminders don't appear: open the Settings app, then Notifications, then Buzzo, and allow notifications.
- "Your saved file couldn't be read": Buzzo keeps the file as it is. Restore a backup, or use Delete all data to start again.
